Ayurveda, Supplement and Nutrition Support

At Drishti, we often combine the principles of Ayurveda, and personalized nutrition or supplement guidance with medication management to support whole-body wellness. Recommendations are tailored to each individual’s unique needs, lifestyle, and health goals, with a focus on creating practical, sustainable habits that support energy, digestion, stress management, and overall well-being. Liv is our expert in Ayurveda and offers consultations as part of a medication management visit or as a stand alone service.

What is supplement and nutrition management?

At Drishti Holistic Wellness, some of our psychiatric prescribers are also certified in Ayurveda and have expertise in supplement and nutrition support for mental health. Sometimes, people taking psychiatric medication management seek additional support around symptoms like insomnia, mood changes tied to your menstrual cycle or to perimenopause, chronic fatigue, or for symptoms that occur during pregnancy or postpartum. Others want to learn more about how to augment the efficacy of medications for anxiety, depression, or ADHD, or understand how to best care for themselves from a nutritional perspective while also taking psychiatric medication. In some cases, targeted supplements can help augment the effectiveness of the medications you're already taking or address other symptoms in ways medication alone doesn't fully cover.

What happens during the evaluation?

Your evaluation covers the same ground as a standard psychiatric evaluation, but with a specific focus on the symptoms that haven't been fully addressed by your current treatment. As with our other services, we'll spend the last 15 to 20 minutes of the visit putting together a plan together.

What happens after the evaluation?

Most of the time, the plan includes lab work. We'll send you to Quest Diagnostics — there are locations throughout Massachusetts, so you can choose whichever is most convenient for you. Once your labs are back, we'll review them with you and use that information to guide decisions about supplements or nutrition strategies that may help. This might include things like supporting thyroid function or addressing low iron or low vitamin D, both of which can play a significant role in mental health. When it's helpful, we may also collaborate with your primary care provider or other members of your care team to make sure we're building the right plan for you.

Is this covered by insurance?

Yes! Supplement and nutrition consults are offered as part of your psychiatric medication management — so as long as you're also seeing us for medication management, we can incorporate this support into your care.
